The Amdahl 470 V/6 was a Supercomputer that was developed in 1970 By Gene Amdahl and supposedly had twice the processing power comparatively to the IBM 360 in the same consecutive year.
The Goddard Flight center purchased one for the National Aeronautical Space Agency (NASA), and containing a 32-bit Memory width, 8 MB of memory size, and a whopping speed of 3.5 MIPS, the semi-large contraption costed around $3,750,000.00 in todayʻs USD.
According to Wikipedia, Gene Myron Amdahl was an American computer architect and high-tech entrepreneur, chiefly known for his work on mainframe computers at IBM and later his own companies, especially Amdahl Corporation. He formulated Amdahl's law, which states a fundamental limitation of parallel computing.
